Pastor Carl Van Stavern began serving Kee Street United Methodist Church in July, 2017. Pastoral ministry is a second career for him. He entered the pastoral ministry in June 2002. Pastor Carl is a graduate of Bluefield State College. He earned his MDiv at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Prior to coming to Princeton, Pastor Carl has served churches in Durbin, Bluefield, Walkersville, Ireland, Vandalia, Petersburg and Wardensville, West Virginia.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Carl also served as a volunteer chaplain at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. While serving in Wardensville, WV, he served as the Hardy Parish Coordinator. He is currently serving as a volunteer chaplain at Princeton Community Hospital and is the Princeton Cooperative Parish Coordinator.
Pastor Carl is a native of Union, West Virginia. He and his wife, Becky, who is also a United Methodist pastor, live in Peterstown, WV. His wife is now serving the Lindside/Peterstown Shared Ministries in Monroe County, WV. They make their home in Peterstown and have two pets who are rescued greyhounds, Sallie and Tallie.
Pastor Carl loves to share his personal faith journey and his call into pastoral ministry. He enjoys all the opportunities that he has to share God’s love with others in his daily work as a pastor. He especially enjoys working with the Princeton Parish Project Food Pantry and Clothes Closet here at Kee Street UMC. He also enjoys working with our monthly Community Meal. Pastor Carl’s greatest blessing of pastoral ministry has been all the wonderful people that God has given him the chance to meet since he became a pastor.
